A pair of Colombo Sanguinetti ebonised side chairs. Stamped Sanguinetti

These chairs initially look like the work of Gio Ponti and echo his legendary delicate and feather light 'superleggera' chair. However which came first? It is true that Ponti found his inspiration in the mass produced Chiavari chair, that chair is the inspiration for these too, Both chairs saw their genesis at the end of the 1940s and first years of the 50s.
