An Art Deco cast iron Thonet occasional table, have a tapering green painted hexagonal column base terminating in red painted tripod decorated with stepped ridges. Now with an octagonal black slate top.

Signed THONET in the casting on the stem.

Austria circa 1930.

Height 28 inches.

Thonet, founded in Vienna in 1853 is renowned for its bentwood furniture, a process they didn’t invent but developed so expertly that by the 1930s the company had become the largest producer of furniture in the world. Their iconic bentwood cafe chair, the model No.14 is still probably the most famous chair of its type.
